Gucci's Fat Sister: PPR, Parent Company of Gucci, Also Owns OneStopPlus

It's a small world, even if you wear a larger size. If you don't read the business pages, you might not know that PPR, the parent company of Gucci, owns OneStopPlus, a popular online shopping mall.
Francois-Henri Pinault, head of PPR, is the same  man who is married to Selma Hayek but has a love child with supermodel Linda Evangelista.

PPR is trying to unload the large size giant.
Apparently, potential buyers are balking at the shipping charges for mailing super size clothing.
According to recent articles about the upcoming sale, women who wear a super size only shop online, and are captive audiences to "humongous" shipping charges.
Plus size clothing in general is priced $10 to $15 more per item than average sizes.
Unless you're in the apparel industry and understand what it takes to make bigger patterns, fit samples and the cost of fabric,  higher prices can appear to be a "fat tax."
It also costs more to make the petite patterns for clothes that use less materials, yet petite clothing is priced neither higher or lower than average sizes.
Out of curiosity, I did some test shopping on various websites to see if it really does cost more to ship larger clothing. I found that OneStopPlus,  HSN and QVC  offer equal shipping for sizes small to 4X, so I'm not sure why a possible buyer for OneStopPlus is making the plus fuss.
Those of us who wear a larger size are always on the look out for great style, a better fit and a good price. We're used to paying the price...shipping included, to get what we want.
The titans of industry are used to paying the price to get what they want too, a profitable company. Regardless of who ends up with OneStopPlus, the customers will continue to shop and pay the shipping as brick and mortar offering plus size clothing continue to shrink.
